Cali Style

 <California 1950s>

Here is some photographs of Cali style from one of my favorite eras the 50s! I was inspired to post these because I went on a missions trip to Mexico and then spent a couple of relaxing days in California which was awesome! Let me know if you like these cool photographs :)

DIY Sleeveless Top With Collar Detail

Shirt: Gap Buttons: From my friend Evelyn :)

Today I decided to do a DIY that I have wanted to do for awhile now. First I got a shirt I liked and didn't mind chopping up. Then I proceeded to cut off both sleeves...making sure to keep the hem so is to avoid to much fray from the material. From there I sewed on some detailed buttons for charm. I was planning on hemming the cut arm holes but I thought it looked kinda good with the rough edges...so then you're finished. :)

P.s This Sunday I'm leaving for a nice vacation in Leavenworth Washington and will return Wednesday (yes I know its a short one!) But that Thursday I have the final meeting for a Mexico missions trip I will be going on the next day which will last till the 30th...we will be building 2 houses and holding VBS. So I have a busy rest of June but it will be fun and worth it!

Sticks & Stones

Dress: Forever21 Shoes: Thrifted Blazer: Mom's Closet :)
 .Today I made some earrings.

Hey everybody! I hope your guys's Thursday is going fine and dandy. I have been pretty busy today myself...besides the fact that I bucked hay for our cows this afternoon (yup its true I'm a country girl) I worked on making some jewelry...hints to the pictures :) I would show all of my pieces but you all would probably fall asleep :) so I did you guys a favor and only uploaded my favorite. My inspiration came from some Native American necklaces I saw at a antique shop awhile back, I just really loved its use of color and the pattern of beads...soo here is my take on that! I also did a outfit lookbook to show you guys a little bit of my style...if you're wondering why I'm wearing warmer clothes...it's because the weather where I live hasn't been that warm! ah so i would of taken the picture with me in them but I still need a tripod and no ones was about to take the pic...so I settled for this view...

Alright enjoy the rest of today and cheers to the upcoming weekend.

Mint on Mint

Diane von Furstenberg Pre-Fall 2012
Elie Saab Spring/Summer Haute Couture 2012
Louis Vuitton Spring 2012 RTW

First I must apologize for not posting anything for awhile! I have been super busy with school...but now I'm out for the summer which brings me to my topic today! Hot Summer Trends for 2012! Yea for summertime :) Anyways one trend that i find super cute is MINT, I am in love with pastels this season and mint happens to be my favorite of those soft tones. Besides from being super fresh it is also very easy to wear...I mean pair it with black skinny jeans and combat boots and you're good to go! I think it looks great in sheer chiffon which will leave you feeling cool in the upcoming hot weather but most importanly stylish! So be on the look out for this summer trend because i have a feeling it will be everywhere!
P.s Don't be afraid to thrift for this trend because if you really dig you can find great stuff at your local Godwill :)

Pilot To My Blog

As some of you might have guessed I’m the new kid on the block that is the ‘blogging’ block. For my first post I will give all you viewers a preview to what I will be talking about and a little bit about who I am and my passions as an individual.
Well my topic or topics you might ask are going to focus mainly on fashion and photography, hints to the title. I've always sort of had a love for designing apparel and seeing garments through the beauty of the world (whether it is natural or urban). Along with this I will be discussing my new found love of photography, which I just started getting into for the past few years.

I guess I'm a lot like the hidden details lost in this
world, like
in this picture i took.

Being in high school I have a tough time expressing myself through my dress. It doesn't help matters much either that I go to such a small school where everyone at least knows your name. I find myself always falling into a stereotypical mold of jeans, uggs, and a simple sweater. At the end of the day though I stare at myself in the mirror and say "this isn't me at all". What I really think my style is inside is a classy, modern take on the past eras especially the 20's through the 50's which was a time of great amount of detail and fine poise. I also feel like I’m into the indies vibe and the rocker chick with some legit combat boots, I guess I’m just like a book with several chapters. I know in the end that I will come out from the shadows... I just have to tell myself I was born to stand out, not to just fit in.
